Today I would like to announce the launch of the OMNINOGGIN plugin support forum.  From now on, I would like all support questions regarding all of my WordPress plugins to go through the appropriate categories in the support forum.  Here are my reasons for the shift:

• Intense Debate comments are not searchable by the end user.  It’s also hard to navigate the comments to find what you are looking for.  Because of that, people end up asking the same questions.
• Support plugins is starting to become a monumental task for me.  I’m hoping that having a forum will encourage 3rd party paticipation to help reduce some of my time spent on plugin support.  That way I can have some time to actually develop the plugins.
• I need the ability to separate which support requests are important and which ones are not as important.  To do that, I have created a set of free support forums and a set of premium support forums.  Free forums are for people who are using my plugins for personal/non-commercial purposes (and thus would not need urgent support).  Premium forums are for people who are using my plugins on blogs that are earning them money.
• Some people were unhappy at my attempts to gain traffic from my plugins by displaying an OMNINOGGIN widget in the WordPress adminitration dashboard by default.  The premium support forums will help justify the 20-30 hours I spend each week on my plugins, so I will be disabling these widgets by default on all of my plugins.

What is the difference between free support and premium support?

Premium forums will be identical to free forums except that I will not be monitoring free support forums as often as premium support forums. Also, there is no guarantee that your post will be responded to in free support forums.

How do I get access to premium support forums?

You can get access to premium support forums in any of the following ways:

• If you have made a donation of at least $5 to any of my plugins prior to today, please contact me via the contact form on my about page.  Make sure to specify your forum username and your Paypal email address, so that I can confirm the donation.
• Purchase premium plugin support.  You will have access to the premium forums immediately after purchase.
• Contribute to the free forums.  You will automatically have access to the premium forums after posting to the forums 50 times.  Please also make sure to not spam, but instead post only relevant posts.  I will ban you if I think you are a spammer.
• Send me an email via the contact form on my about page and tell me why you deserve premium support access.  I’m pretty reasonable provided that you are too .

I have previously reviewed the Minify PHP application and found that the only drawback it had for a WordPress user was that it was semi-tedious to integrate with WordPress. Because of that I would like to release the ‘WP Minify’ WordPress plugin that will integrate Minify into WordPress for you and help you improve your site load time.

Description

This plugin helps you easily integrate the Minify engine into your WordPress blog. Once enabled, this plugin will combine and compress JS and CSS files to improve page load time.

How Does it Work?

Upon page load, WP Minify intercepts scripts and style printing at the ‘wp_print_scripts’ and ‘wp_print_styles’ hook. WP Minify grabs these files in the proper order (minding dependencies) and passes that list to the Minify engine. The Minify engine then returns a consolidated, minified, and compressed script or style. WP Minify then references this compressed script or style in the WordPress header instead of each individual scripts/styles.

This plugin uses the Minify engine currently being developed by Steve Clay and Ryan Grove.

Description

This plugin detects if a regular visitor to your blog (10 visits by default) has AdBlock software enabled. If so, it will display a floating notification message on the 11th visit to your visitor. You can set this message to humbly ask your loyal visitor to support your blog by turning off their AdBlock software, by making a small donation, or by writing about your blog (be creative!). By default, this message box will never show up again for that visitor.

It is based on the code on the post: How to Discourage Visitors from Using AdBlock.

Features

• Customizable notification message. You can feel free change the text to say “please donate” or “please write about us” instead of “please disable AdBlock”. You can even Rick Roll your visitors who have AdBlock enabled!
• Ability to make the notification message closeable or not. I highly recommend that you keep it as closeable to not lose any visitors.
• Ability to NOT display message to visitor until X visits (default 10). First impression is everything. It’s not right to ask new visitors to turn off AdBlock until they really find your content useful (by coming back so many times).
• Ability to set the number of times your visitor gets nagged by the notification (default 1). I highly recommend that you nudge them only once. If you do it more than that, you might use the visitor permanently.
• Dynamic JS and ID generation so AdBlock cannot blanket block the Anti-AdBlock message.

This plugin lets you show a different greeting message to your new visitors depending on their referrer url. For example, when a Digg user clicks through from Digg, they will see a message reminding them to digg your post if they like it. Another example, when a visitor clicks through from Twitter, they will see a message suggesting them to twit the post and follow you on Twitter. Installation

Today I would like to announce the release of “Project Honey Pot Http:BL” WordPress Plugin.

Description

This plugin allows you to verify all visitors’ IP address against the Project Honey Pot database. Using the Http:BL API, this plugin flags, logs, and blocks visitors with a high threat score, helping you prevent harvesters, spammers, or other suspicious bots from abusing your blog. I’ve been talking a lot about LoJack anti-spam measures lately and this is one of them.
This plugin requires you to sign up for a free account at Project Honey Pot so that you can use their Http:BL API to verify your visitors.
This plugin is based on Jan Stepien’s http:BL version 1.4 which is no longer being supported. This version of the plugin fixes a lot of database bugs and usability issues that the original plugin had. Here are the key benefits of having this plugin enabled.

1. LoJack anti-spam solution with collective intelligence
2. Easy Project Honey Pot integration. No need to mess with Apache mod_httpbl, which means that this will work on shared hosts.
3. Ability to redirect malicious bots to a bot trap.
4. Logging capabilities

1. Comments quality will increase as users will be forced to preview his/her comment before submitting it. Previewed comments are sent through WordPress’ various filters so that the user can see exactly how his/her comment will appear after it is submitted.
2. Spambots will not be able post comments unless it actually tries to “preview” the comment. When a preview is requested, a nonce key is generated and returned along with the preview. This nonce key is then required to be sent back to the server during comment submission. So in order to submit a comment, the spambot would have to use javascript to request a comment preview prior to submitting the comment. Most spambots do not care to preview so this offers some level of spam protection.
